DESCRIPTION:&nbsp\;\n\nFree\, one-week virtual program provides support and
  information for families of children with hearing loss\n\nThe Institute f
 or Parents of Preschool Children Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing will have
  a new format for 2021.\n\nThis year’s event will be a one-week virtual 
 program for parents of children ages 7 and under who have a significant he
 aring loss. It will take place via Zoom from June 6-11.\n\nParticipating p
 arents and caregivers will attend daily lectures by experts in the field t
 o learn about raising a child with hearing loss.  Lecture topics include:
 \n\n 	Child development\n 	Types of hearing loss\n 	Language development\n
  	Communication choices\n 	Hearing aids and cochlear implants\n 	Deaf cult
 ure\n 	Parent rights\n 	School programming\n\nThere is no cost for familie
 s to participate.\n\nIPads may also be available to check out at no cost f
 or families without the right technology to participate from home.\n\nUIC
 ’s Division of Specialized Care for Children (DSCC) supports the Institu
