SUMMARY:2024 LIHEAP Program Taking Applications in Illinois
DESCRIPTION:\nThe Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is tak
 ing appointments for the 2024 program.\n\nLIHEAP helps income-eligible hou
 seholds pay their natural gas\, propane and/or electric bills. LIHEAP can 
 also provide help if a furnace quits working.\n\n\n\n\nTo apply in October
 \, households must include:\n\n\n\n 	A senior (age 60 and older)\n 	An ind
 ividual with a disability\n 	Children younger than 6 years old\n\n\n\nOthe
 r income-eligible households can begin applying on:\n\n\n 	Nov. 1 - Discon
 nected households\n 	Dec. 1 - All other income-eligible households\n\n\n\n
 \nIndividuals must make an appointment with their local agency to apply fo
 r LIHEAP. See the Illinois Department of Commerce &amp\; Economic Opportun
 ity's (DCEO) website for a list of agencies.\n\nYou can also call 211 to f
 ind agencies in your area that are taking LIHEAP applications.\n\nLIHEAP p
