SUMMARY:2024 LIHEAP Program Taking Applications in Illinois
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\nThe Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) 
 is taking appointments for the 2024 program.\n\nLIHEAP helps income-eligib
 le households pay their natural gas\, propane and/or electric bills. LIHEA
 P can also provide help if a furnace quits working.\n\nTo apply in October
 \, households must include:\n\n 	A senior (age 60 and older)\n 	An individ
 ual with a disability\n 	Children younger than 6 years old\n\nOther income
 -eligible households can begin applying on:\n\n 	Nov. 1 - Disconnected hou
 seholds\n 	Dec. 1 - All other income-eligible households\n\nIndividuals mu
 st make an appointment with their local agency to apply for LIHEAP. See th
 e Illinois Department of Commerce &amp\; Economic Opportunity's (DCEO) web
 site for a list of agencies.\n\nYou can also call 211 to find agencies in 
 your area that are taking LIHEAP applications.\n\nLIHEAP provides help on 
 a first-come\, first-served basis. The deadline to apply is Aug. 15\, 2024
