DESCRIPTION:A day-long\, in-person workshop for parents\, teachers and othe
 r professionals addressing strategies for teaching self-care\, independenc
 e and sexuality to children and adults with autism and related disabilitie
 s\n\nJoin Florissa Center for "Autism: Addressing Hygiene\, Puberty\, Pers
 onal Safety and Sexuality Issues" on April 8 from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at D
 ixon Elks Lodge\, 1279 Franklin Grove Road\, in Dixon.\n\nMary Wrobel\, is
  an award-winning author\, teacher and speech-language pathologist who has
  taught and worked with students with autism and other disabilities for mo
 re than 25 years.\n\nWrobel will provide attendees with strategies for tea
 ching and promoting self-care\, safety and sexuality for children and adul
 ts with autism and related disabilities.\n\nThe workshop will cover the ne
 eds of children starting at age 3\, elementary students\, teenagers and yo
 ung adults.\n\nParticipants will learn:\n\n 	Specific skills to teach stud
 ents with autism regarding hygiene\, modesty\, puberty\, personal safety a
 nd sexuality\n 	Strategies and techniques for effectively teaching worksho
 p topics to individual students\n 	How to use visual supports and step-by-
 step instructions to teach skills to students\n\nThe cost of the workshop 
 is $50 for teachers and professionals and $25 for consumers and family mem
 bers.\n\nRegister for the April 8 training here. The registration deadline
