SUMMARY:Parent Advocacy Leadership (PAL) Training
DESCRIPTION:&nbsp\;\n\nFree training series to help parents navigate the sp
 ecial education process\n\nAre you a parent of a child with a disability o
 r a community member interested in gaining a strong understanding of the I
 llinois special education system?\n\nThe Family Resource Center on Disabil
 ities (FRCD) is providing a free virtual training series designed to help 
 you.\n\nThe training will cover:\n\n 	The Individuals with DisabilitiesEdu
 cation Act (IDEA)\n 	State law (Part 226)\n 	The Family Education Rights a
 nd Privacy Act (FERPA)\n 	Section 504\n 	Advocacy\n 	Current special educa
 tion issues\n\nThe requirements to participate are:\n\n 	Attend all eight 
 sessions\n 	Participate in four focus groups\n 	Complete pre and post-surv
 ey\n\nAll training webinars and focus groups will be virtual. The PAL trai
 ning is eight sessions long. The focus groups will also take place via web
 inar format.\n\nHomework is required and must be completed prior to each s
 ession. Participants who complete all eight sessions will receive a Parent
  Advocacy Leadership Certificate of Completion.\n\nEach training session i
 s Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.\, excluding holiday weekends\, fr
 om April 10 to June 12 via Zoom webinar.\n\nFocus group dates are Wednesda
 ys at 6 p.m. from April 20 to May 25.\n\nThe final focus group will be on
