SUMMARY:Southern Conference for Illinois Parents of Children with Vision Lo

DESCRIPTION:Participate in in-depth discussions and learn from experts in t
 he field and fellow parents.\n\nThe Southern Illinois Vision Conference wi
 ll take place March 3 at the Mt. Vernon Primary Center in Mt. Vernon. The 
 event is for parents of children ages birth through 21 to join in-depth di
 scussions of use topics and learn from experts in the field as well as fro
 m fellow parents. Children must be at least 12 years old to attend.\n\nThe
  conference program will include the following topics and sessions:\n\n 	T
 echnology: Technology is forever changing as is Assistive Technology. Lea
 rn more about low tech and high tech supports for visual impairment.\n 	So
 cial/Emotional: This session will discuss social/emotional issues specific
  to families and children with vision loss. It may include issues such as 
 bullying\, making friends\, impact on families\, acceptance of adaptive eq
 uipment\, etc.\n 	Special Needs Planning: Come learn and discuss some issu
 es that you might have questions on. What is Guardianship? Is it right for
  my child? What other issues might I need to think about as my child turns
  18. (Parents of children of all ages should benefit from this discussion.
 )\n 	Panel of Parents: Several parents of children with visual impairments
  will be led by a moderator to discuss topics such as family dynamics\, ad
 vocacy\, social/emotional issues and/or things that work for their family 
 and things that have not worked.\n\nService providers are also welcome to 
 attend and will be able to earn professional credits.\n\nThe registration
