SUMMARY:State of Transition: Disability Services Workshop in Taylorville
DESCRIPTION:Free workshop about services available to disabled youth as the
 y transition to adulthood.\n\nAs a parent/guardian of a child or adult wit
 h developmental disabilities\, you likely have many questions about servi
 ces that are available to your son or daughter as they get older. There a
 re many things to consider when planning for their future. It is very impo
 rtant that you begin contacting outside service providers as soon as possi
 ble due to waiting lists that may take years to allow your child to begin 
 receiving services. But\, it's not always easy to know where to start and 
 what's available.\n\nThis workshop will help answer some of the questions 
 you may have be featuring information and presentations from key service a
 gencies\, including UIC Division of Specialized Care for Children.\n\nPres
 entation topics will include: PUNS\, guardianship\, DHS and DRS services\
 , living/group homes and independent living centers and tours of the Chri
 stian County Mental Health Association Workshop.\n\nService agencies will 
 be present from 5 to 6:30 p.m. to share information about available servic
 es and resources. Agency presentations will begin at 6:30 p.m.\n\nPlease R
