 dren with Complex Medical Needs
DESCRIPTION:This free in-person training will take place Sept. 24-25 at UIC
 ’s Simulation and Integrative Learning Center in Chicago.\n\nA special i
 n-person training program for the families and caregivers of children with
  complex medical needs is happening on Sept. 24-25 in Chicago.\n\nThis fre
 e two-day training will take place at the University of Illinois Chicago (
 UIC) Simulation and Integrative Learning (SAIL) Center on the fifth floor
  at 1220 S. Wood St. in Chicago.\n\nFamilies have expressed the need for m
 ore support for parents/caregivers of children with complex medical needs.
  UIC's Division of Specialized Care for Children is excited to partner wit
 h Almost Home Kids to provide this valuable training opportunity. It will 
 offer essential tools and knowledge to help you in your caregiving journey
 .\n\nYou may attend this training if you:\n\n 	Are the parent or caregiver
  of a child in the Home and Community-Based Services Waiver for Those Who 
 Are Medically Fragile Technology Dependent (MFTD waiver)\n 	Have prior exp
 erience in caring for a child with a tracheostomy (trach) tube and/or a ch
 ild with a trach tube and ventilator\n 	Are able to commit to online learn
 ing before the in-person learning days\n 	Can attend both dates to receive
  a marked completion of the training\n\nThe training will be from 8 a.m. t
 o 4:30 p.m. each day. The in-depth curriculum will include:\n\n 	Reducing 
 the risk of infection\n 	Skin care\n 	Daily care of the child with a trach
  and ventilator\n 	Activity and movement\n 	Equipment and alarms\n 	Gastro
 stomy care and feeding\n 	Trach basics\n 	Respiratory assessment and inter
 ventions\n 	Ventilator training with hands-on practice\n 	Emergency prepar
 edness\n 	Caregiver resiliency and well-being\n 	Simulation learning exper
