DESCRIPTION:&nbsp\;\n\nA free virtual training session to understand LGBTQ 
 people and the unique challenges they often face\n\nThe Abraham Lincoln Pr
 esidential Library and Museum (ALPLM) and the Illinois State Board of Educ
 ation are hosting a virtual presentation of The Trevor Project's Ally Trai
 ning on June 27 at 6 p.m.\n\nThis training provides a basic framework of u
 nderstanding lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, transgender\, queer and questionin
 g (LGBTQ) people and the unique challenges they often face.\n\nDesigned to
  create dialogue regarding what it means to be an ally for LGBTQ people\, 
 the training will focus on:\n\n 	The terminology used in the LGBTQ communi
 ty\n 	The process of “coming out” as an LGBTQ person\n 	How we can cre
 ate safer and more supportive environments for LGBTQ students\n\nThrough t
 argeted activities\, participants will explore their own biases\, build kn
 owledge and understanding\, and develop empathy.\n\nVisit the ALPLM websit

  for educators and pre-service teachers.
