DESCRIPTION:&nbsp\;\n\nFree webinar for families and professionals to learn
  how to support families with teleintervention (including virtual learning
 \, apps\, webinars) and electronic resources.\n\nThe National Center for H
 earing Assessment and Management (NCHAM) is hosting the "Discovering Affor
 dable Technology Access for Families" webinar at 1 p.m. on May 27.  The s
 peakers are Tawny Holmes and Zainab Alkebsi.\n\nAn increasing number of ea
 rly hearing and detection intervention resources are becoming "green" (pap
 erless) or virtual\, but that means families with limited access to the in
 ternet may be left in the dust.\n\nThis presentation will share immediatel
 y usable information about free or affordable technology access that is av
 ailable to families with lower socioeconomic status.\n\nThis technology ac
 cess is required/funded by the federal government and often is not common 
 knowledge among early intervention professionals.\n\nDid you know that fam
 ilies may be qualified for free or $10 a month wireless internet? Did you 
 know that parents may qualify for a $10 a month cell phone bill? Free iPad
 s?\n\nThis company-neutral presentation by a national advocacy organizatio
 n is strictly focused on providing information on all major telecommunicat
 ions companies' offers as mandated/provided by federal law.\n\nThe webinar
 's learning objectives are:\n\n 	Parents and professionals will be able to
  list various avenues to receive affordable technology access.\n 	Particip
 ants will develop strategies for families to apply for technology access.\
 n 	Participants will locate relevant websites and companies where they can
  proceed with applications.\n\nVisit the NCHAM website to register online 
 and learn about the presenters.\n\nLive captioning will also be provided.\
