DESCRIPTION:&nbsp\;\n\nFree webinar for families and professionals to learn
  how to support families with teleintervention (including virtual learning
 \, apps\, webinars) and electronic resources.\n\nThe National Center for H
 earing Assessment and Management (NCHAM) is hosting the "Discovering Affor
 dable Technology Access for Families" webinar at 1 p.m. on Jan. 21.  The 
 speakers are Tawny Holmes and Zainab Alkebsi.\n\nAn increasing number of e
 arly hearing and detection intervention resources are becoming "green" (pa
 perless) or virtual\, but that means families with limited access to the i
 nternet may be left in the dust.\n\nThis presentation will share immediate
 ly usable information about free or affordable technology access that is a
 vailable to families with lower socioeconomic status.\n\nThis technology a
 ccess is required/funded by the federal government and often is not common
  knowledge among early intervention professionals.\n\nDid you know that fa
 milies may be qualified for free or $10 a month wireless internet? Did you
  know that parents may qualify for a $10 a month cell phone bill? Free iPa
 ds?\n\nThis company-neutral presentation by a national advocacy organizati
 on is strictly focused on providing information on all major telecommunica
 tions companies' offers as mandated/provided by federal law.\n\nThe webina
 r's learning objectives are:\n\n 	Parents and professionals will be able t
 o list various avenues to receive affordable technology access.\n 	Partici
 pants will develop strategies for families to apply for technology access.
 \n 	Participants will locate relevant websites and companies where they ca
 n proceed with applications.\n\nVisit the NCHAM website to register online
  and learn about the presenters.\n\nLive captioning will also be provided.
