DESCRIPTION:&nbsp\;\n\nA free training series designed to help parents\, gu
 ardians and interested community members understand and navigate the speci
 al education process in Illinois\n\nThe Family Resource Center on Disabili
 ties is hosting their "Parent Advocacy Leadership (PAL) Training Program" 
 via Zoom beginning Sept. 10 and running through Oct. 29. Sessions will be 
 each Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (excluding holidays).\n\nAre you 
 a parent of a child with a disability or a community member interested in 
 gaining a strong understanding of the special education system?\n\nThe PAL
  training series is designed to provide an understanding of state and fede
 ral laws\, an update on current topics and skills for navigating the speci
 al education process in Illinois. PAL participants must be willing to:\n\n
  	Attend all eight sessions\n 	Complete homework prior to each session\n 	
 Complete a pre- and post-survey\n\nTraining will cover:\n\n 	The Individua
 ls with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)\n 	State law (Part 226)\n 	The F
 amily Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)\n 	Section 504\n 	Advocacy\
 n\nParticipants who complete all eight sessions will receive a Parent Advo
 cacy Leadership Certificate of Completion.\n\nRegister for the PAL eight-w
 eek training series.  Registration is required.\n\nFor more information\,
