DESCRIPTION:&nbsp\;\n\nA free virtual training series to help parents\, gua
 rdians and interested community members understand and navigate the specia
 l education process in Illinois\n\nThe Family Resource Center on Disabilit
 ies is hosting their "Parent Advocacy Leadership (PAL) Training Program" b
 eginning Sept. 30 and running through Nov. 18. The eight sessions will tak
 e place on Zoom. Each session will be from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.\n\nThe tr
 aining will provide:\n\n 	A strong understanding of state and federal laws
 \n 	An update on current topics\n 	Skills for navigating the special educa
 tion process in Illinois.\n\nParents\, caregivers and interested community
  members must be willing to attend all eight sessions\, complete homework 
 prior to each session and complete a pre- and post-training survey.\n\nTra
 ining will cover:\n\n 	The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (ID
 EA)\n 	State law (Part 226)\n 	The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act
  (FERPA)\n 	Section 504\n 	Advocacy\n\nParticipants completing all eight s
 essions will receive a Parent Advocacy Leadership Certificate of Completio
 n.\n\nRegister for the PAL eight-week training series.  Registration is r
